Stefan Sterchi Homeopath in Zug

Biography

My life is inspired by my conviction that I am responsible for my life, my health and my acts. With so much freedom and self-responsibility I evidently wanted to do everything different than in common. I thought to be independent so I needed to know something about the art of healing and medicine. Already as a child I started reading books about medicine, naturopathy and related subjects to be prepared.

I‘ve taken it until graduation but then I needed to go out into the world, travelled to India and had my first contact with homeopaths and Ayur Vedic doctors. Coming home Switzerland and medical studies seemed too narrow to me and there were no alternatives to study homeopathy or naturopathy in Switzerland. In Hamburg I found a welcome opportunity at a school for naturopathy.

At the „Norddeutsche Heilpraktiker Fachschule“ I met my first teacher for Homeopathy, Gerhard Risch who later also got well known in Switzerland. As a former priest he had a talent to inspire his students for homeopathy. I like the concept of attaining much with smallest quantities. From then on my homeopathic travel kit was an important tool and has brought me much experience using it for myself and others.

Back in Switzerland there were not many homeopaths, good seminars were rare and the more valuable. So I got to the lectures of Dr. Jost Künzli who impressed me thoroughly. He was venerable, wise and humble. Often he would only speak little but what he said is still of unique value for me.

On one of his first seminars in Switzerland I got to know
Rajan Sankaran from Mumbai, India. His seminars were exciting from the first minute to the last and full of new ideas. His appearance and his videos stimulated my homesickness for India. On my question if I could visit him he answered: „Come to Bombay just give me a phone call when you are there“. That‘s what I did, traveled to India, called him and spent four months in his and his colleagues practices.

The possibilities to practice as a Homeopath were limited at that time and illegal in many canton. So I started treating people coming by recommendation. 1994 I saw a chance to realize my dream of working in a healthcare center. The Insurance Company SWICA was building several healthcare centers. I got employed for the healthcare center in Zug and soon got the mandate to find homeopaths for the other centers.

After two years of experience in a team and as employee it was again my wish to be free and responsible for myself that led me to open my own practice.

Parallel to this development I got into a group of enthusiastic homeopaths with the aim to build a representing association of professional homeopaths. From 1992 on we were busy realizing the VKH (Verband Klassischer HomöopathInnen). 1996 I became elected as chairman. This confronted me with the subject of leadership and my wish not to dominate others. That‘s where I learned that there is a homeopathic approach to lead: give impulses, let things proceed as long they move in the right direction and only intervene when needed. 2003 I lay down all my political duties to have more time for my practice and to discover new areas.

It did not take long until the new areas appeared. In February 2005 my son Marvin and in January 2008 my son Andrin got born.Since then I take care of the children the days I‘m not in my practice. So it might happen nowadays, when people call me on my emergency number, that there are noises children in the background, taking advantage of the situation to mess up my office at home.
